Acct Budget not updating actotals correctly - data investigation + bug
Symptoms:
There are 2 different schools of thought as to how the apply budgets should work. a. Some clients would like to see only budget accounts that have non-$0 amounts in the budget being applied, with previous budget amounts zeroed out. b. Others would like to see amounts from the previous budget merged with the amounts from the budget being applied. (this is the current application logic). To prevent confusion, a decision was made to always zero existing accounts budgets for the current fiscal year prior to applying a new budget
Solution:
Code was revised such that: - Existing accounts budgets for current fiscal year will always be zeroed prior to applying a new budget. - In the message that inquires is user wants to apply the selected budget, information was added which explains that all previous accounts’ budgets for the fiscal year will be zeroed and then the new budget will be applied. Note that the Apply Budget function is not allowed for Equipment and Cost Centre budgets.
