Accounts lets you switch between Expense and Capital
Symptoms:
There is no check in AC to stop you from switching between account types. If the person has just entered an account they should be able to change it, but you should not be able to change an account under the following situations: - transactions exist; - nothing is costed to it that could create future transactions (e.g. stores req, PO, voucher) - the account has gone through a year end (has actotals for 00 or 99 periods) The Trial Balance and General Ledger reports wouldn't be able to calculate the correct opening balance.
Solution:
Pending further discussion/analysis, revisions have been made using the scope outlined during the Sept.22/08 meeting mentioned in the request description (allow account type change based on whether a year-end has been done, and whether transactions exist on the selected account). I.e.: - if account type has been changed - Find the last closed fiscal year - find whether transactions exist on the selected account - allow or prevent an account type change and display an appropriate message to inform the client, depending on: 1. If no transactions exist on a given account: -> Client MAY change the account type 2. If transactions do exist on a given account: a. If a fiscal year end has not ever been performed: -> Client MAY change the account type A message is displayed warning that transactions exist on this account but since a fiscal year-end has not yet been done the account type may be changed. b. If a fiscal year end has been performed: -> Client MAY NOT change the account type A message is displayed informing that the account type cannot be changed since a fiscal year-end has been done and transactions exist for this account. The account type is reset to its initial type.
